Literacy Bridge Donor Throws a Benefit Concert

Audience enjoying Alameda

Cliff Schmidt, Amanda Palmer and Noirin Plunkett

Two months ago, a firecracker of a woman wanted to help raise money and awareness for an organization that is near and dear to her heart. She contacted the founder and executive director of Literacy Bridge and said that said that she had a “mad” idea for a fundraiser, the proceeds from which could sponsor the Maternal and Child Health Program in the village of Saabaalong.

This mad idea has resulted in the overwhelming successful July 21st fundraising event, A Lifetime of Opportunity, with two of Portland’s most favorite groups and the Portland premiere performance of one of the greatest talents in alternative rock. Heartfelt thanks to Noirin Plunkett for organizing and underwriting the Amanda Palmer concert in Portland, OR, with performances from Alameda and the Doubleclicks. The show was just amazing. Thanks also to our MC, Paul Fenwick, to all the volunteers who helped, and to everyone in the audience for the sold-out show! And last, but not least, thank you to Washington Graphics and Fred Meyer for their generous in-kind donations.

Thank you to all for forever changing the opportunities of more than 1000 people in Saabaalong.

Keep checking this page for updates on Noirin’s fundraiser.
